Great to see you in such fine form at the People’s Coop dance last night, Bill! That was quite a time, eh?

Hi Bill!! …and the greater leftcoast oldtime community,
Up here in OakLand, the Pork Pies will be playing tonight (warming up the patrons of the Temescal Outdoor Film Series), donating our gig proceeds to Bill’s health.

Hi Bill: I met you at Maggie and Patrick’s wedding. I am sending good wishes your way. You are one of Maggie’s heros and I want to thank you for all the joy you have given to her and the rest of the old time community. I will keep you in my thoughts as you take this long and difficult journey. Stay strong!

  8. Barb Hansen says:

    BILLLLLLLLL!

I know you’re going to come out of this ok, and even more feisty! I guess I just have to echo what others have said — you have contributed so much to the old time music and dance scene and somehow your calling of the Foghorn dances down in San Francisco has to have something to do with the fact that I now live here in Portland. So thanks for that, and thanks for coming to the rescue on that pre-schooler’s square dance last month!
    Love you!
    Barb Hansen

  9. Ann & Chuck Anderson says:

Bill – If it wasn’t for YOU we (introverts, for sure!) probably wouldn’t be dancing! Your positive energy, your inclusiveness, your fabulous calling style & teaching talent, plus your GREAT beaming smile sets the “gold standard” for the music-dancing community! Thanks for all the wonderful times we have had dancing to your calling & for sharing your exuberance with all of us! We have been benefactors of your skill, talent & love of people! You are sure to get tons of positive energy back to getting healthy & back to feeling ‘fit as a fiddle!’ Love, hugs & Namaste, ann

  10. Suzanne Savell says:

Bill – Thanks for making Portland a safe place for displaced hillbillies like myself. I sure do enjoy hanging out with you, and I’m honored to have been so warmly welcomed by the Bubbaville world. Five years ago, I never would have guessed that I’d leave the mountains and find myself square dancing and playing old time music in Oregon! You’ve been a big part of making Portland the kind of place worth living. You just holler at me if you need anything, alright?! Vancouver ain’t that far away from NE Portland. Heck, by Eastern Kentucky Standards, we’re neighbors! Plus, I wanna hear more of your tales, especially those family stories. You’ve got some good ones!

    Much love,
    Suzanne

  11. Jean Bucher says:

    Hi Bill,
You don’t know me well, but…well, you usually know me when you see me. Whatever the case, I know you, and I’m mighty proud to call you friend considering all the stuff you do, and recently, the grace with whch you have handled your recent doctoring experiences. I think it is particularly wonderful that you have managed to keep that one-of-a-kind humor intact; all of us here love that! Excellent!

My best wishes to you in the upcoming weeks. (If I thought it would help, I’d bring you my best slingshot and cap gun from childhood. In the meantime, I’ll be sending good energy your way.)
    Jean

  12. Kate Furr says:

Sending you good thoughts for a speedy recovery. You are a wonderful human bean and set a fine example for anyone facing adversity. Thanks for being so forthcoming about what you are going through and thanks for letting us who love you help you in whatever little ways we can.

  13. Howdy Bill!
You’re definitely my hero!! 5 years ago, I wouldn’t have even fathomed the thought of becoming a career old time musician/clogger/caller – but then I came to the Portland OT Gathering – and my life was changed forever, for the better!

Positive energy gains momentum as it connects from person to person, and your positivity has created a thunderhead of good fun and loving friends in the NW… and we’re going to rain all that goodness right back onto you!!

Thanks for being you! Much love,
    ~Charmaine

  14. Tom Dummer says:

  20. Annette Lackaff says:

Hey,cousin Bill, this is your darlin’ kissin’ cousin.I am so glad to be able to talk “at” you this way. Costs next to nothing, too. I mean, I did buy up a ton of forever stamps, but hate to use them unless I am desperately out of commemoratives.
I didn’t know you were St Good Sam, until this evening. On the other hand you may have already returned home. Anyway, you have a candle lit for you at St. Ignatius Church in Portland. Can you see its little flicker? Think of that flame rising up and over the city, floating through the clouds, and finally coming to rest in your heart….
    Love you, Bill!
